Bought a new Dell

I have just purchased a new Dell and would like to know if I can download my
original Microsoft Office Professional 2003 on the Vista OS on this new
computer with any problems. Is there anything I need to do before loading it?

If you have a retail version of Office 2003 and you have the disks and
product key, just install it.

The package with the orginal oldere Dell came with Office 2003 and I have the
unopened disk. I did not purchase it off the shelf. Does this place me in a
different situation? BTW, thanks for the previous response.

OEM versions are tied to the computer they were originally installed. Did
Dell pre-install Office 2003 on your old computer and provided you the CDs
so that you could re-install? If so, suspect it will not install on your new
computer. You will do no damage to your new computer by trying to install.
Worse case, it will not install.

If you are interested in Office 2007, your Dell Office 2003 OEM CD is a
qualifying product for any upgrade edition of Office 2007. You do not need
to install Office 2003 OEM, just have the CD available to insert in the
drive if you are asked for a qualifying product. If your new Dell has a
qualifying product {such as Works} pre-installed, you will not be asked for
a qualifying product.
