OK Laz. I presume you created the hammock task in the Gantt Chat view?
Right
click the Start Date and select Clear Contents. Ditto with the Finish Date.

Hello Laz,

It's likely Mike is off-line. To answer your question, choose Edit >
Links to show the Links dialog box. Select the link and click the Break
Link button. You'll need to break the link to the Start as well as the
Finish.
