BreakPoints- not being hit

I am creating an Excel-Addin via C API methodology. My Solution conssites of
6 projects. The 6th generating the .xll and being dependant on the other 5.
In debugging mode I can hit all the breakpoints in the 6th project but none
in the other dependant 5 projects. I get an error "include preprocessor
directives or complier/linker optimisation" I don't know what this means.
Can anybody help?
