Broken Link Problem - Don't Update

W

Wardell Castles

I have a workbook, let's call it for the purposes of this discussion
book1.xls, that has a reference to a macro located in an xla file
located in a network drive.

When the network drive is not available and I open book1.xls, I am
prompted with the standard "Workbook contains links to other Data
Sources, "Update", "Don't Update", "Cancel".

However when I press "Don't Update", the cell in book1.xls that
references this macro gets the #NAME? error.

Now what's odd, is that this error only happens when I try to open
book1.xls using Excel 2003. When I try to open book1.xls using Excel
2002 or 2000, the old value remains as I expect.

Has anyone else experience this problem?

Thanks in advance for all replies.
