Build a form in word

Hello. I need help.
I am trying to build a form using word 2000, i have
already set out how it looks and the buttons and so on but
the check buttons only work when i protect the doc but i
also have an email link and a http link. My problem is
when i protect the doc it disables the links. Does anyone
know how to fix that.
And another small problem not to inmprtant. Is it possible
to change the check box for a X in it to a check make like
in excel ??
