Build Team - Filtering on RBS

John

After creating an 'RBS' I would have expected I could filter enterprise resources on this code in the 'Build Team' dialog box.

Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

The environment is Project Professional 2003 and Project Server 2003 in single domain.

Before you can filter on the RBS field in the Team Builder dialog box, you
need to make sure that you have specified an RBS value for each of your
resources in the Enterprise Resource Pool. I will assume you have done
that, but if you have not, please open the Enterprise Resource Pool and do
this first.

To filter on the RBS field, do the following:

1. Open the project in question
2. Click Tools - Build Team from Enterprise...
3. Click the expand (+) button to Customize Filters section
4. Select RBS as the Field Name
5. Specify the Test and the select an RBS Value for which to filter
6. Click the Apply Filter button
7. If the filter performed as desired, click the Save Filter... button
8. Name the custom filter and save it

When you save a filter from the Build Team dialog box, the filter will be
saved in the active project. If this filter is for your personal use only,
you should copy the filter to your Global.mpt file using the Organizer
(Tools - Organizer). If the filter would be useful across the enterprise,
you should ask your Project Server administrator to copy the filter to the
Enterprise Global. Hope this helps.

Yes, each Resource in the Enterprise Resource Pool has an RBS assigned, I
have double-checked this.

The process you describe for filtering on RBS is exactly what I expect.

Unfortunately, it's not what the 'Build Team' dialog box is doing. Security
context is a Windows account with full permissions and an RBS value at the
root of the hierarchy.

Please be explicit about what the Build Team dialog box is doing, and then
we can follow up with more help.

My apologies, I need to correct myself.

I am running Project Professional 2002 against Project Server 2003 when I
observe that the Build Team dialog will not permit filtering on RBS. Note
that under 'Server Configuration' in Project Web Access, the feature
'Connect to Project Server using Microsoft Project 2002' is set to 'Allow'

With Project Professional 2003 the Build Team dialog allows filtering on
RBS, as you described.
