Build Team - One to Many

When using a generic resource during planning, we many times need to set the
units to be greater than one, indicating that multiple resources with the
same role/skill profile are required. Does the build team function allow for
replacing one generic resource (units > 1) with multiple named resources?

If not, is it recommended that multiple generic resources with the same
skills be created in the enterprise resource pool such that a one-to-one
replacement is performed?

The Replace functionality in the Build Team from Enterprise dialog does not
have a one to many capability. Thus, if a Generic resource is assigned in
the project at 200% Units, you cannot replace this resource with two human
resources by clicking the Replace button. On the other hand, I would
definitely not create multiple Generic resources to try and solve this
problem as I think that would tremendously complicate your environment. I
think a better approach would be to use the Build Team from Enterprise
dialog to match human resources with the same skills as the assigned Generic
resources and then add them to the team. Once this has been done, I would
do the following:

1. Close the Build Team from Enterprise dialog
2. Click Window - Split
3. Select a task to which a Generic resource is assigned in the upper pane
4. In the lower pane, note the Units value for the assigned Generic
resource
5. In the lower pane, delete the Generic resource but do not click the OK
button
6. In the lower pane, select the same number of resources as the original
Units value for the Generic resource
7. Click the OK button

Just an idea. Hope this helps.
