1. Not a programming issue.

2. Did you start with a template or from scratch?

What kind of printer are you using? I have the same problem which started when I got myself an HP 6500 printer. I would love to know if this problem is due to the printer firmware.

HP manufactures a lot of products with the 6500 number. Is yours a Deskjet or
Photosmart or whatever?

Sometimes with perforated stock a printer won't pick up correctly and the cards
will be misaligned. There isn't much you can do about it when using a template,
i.e. one card on the screen. If you setup your page manually you can adjust the
cards by nudging up or down or right to left or left to right.

Arrange, Layout Guides, right & left margins --- .75, top and bottom margins---
..5. Grid Guides, Two columns, 5 rows, zero spacing.
This setup will have spaces for 10 cards 2 X 3.5. You might want to create a
table to fit this space and experiment with your print, nudging until you get it
right. Save the setup as a template for later publications.

Thank you for your helpful message. I'd like to tell you:
1. HP 6500 officejet printer comes in 3 varieties which differ from each
other in ways not likely to affect business card alignment.
2. I have owned a series of HP Officejet printers, none of which had
problems with Avery perforated stock. My new 6500 Officejet is the first to
have problems with this.
3. This print job still runs smoothly on my neigbhor's officejet 4550 though
not on my printer. I can imagine no other cause for the problem other than
the printer itself. HP will not admit this.

I would dearly love to know what kind of printer jemike is using. Also I
have considered trading up to an HP 8500 Officejet but as part of the same
series it might have the same problems.

I have two HP printers. One is a LaserJet that will print business cards
flawlessly every time. The other is a ColorSmart; I have to adjust the cards up,
I assume it is because the rollers do not catch the stock correctly. I save the
setup as a template, if I need color cards I simply copy, paste.
I don't expect more from the color printer, it was very inexpensive. I have
learned its idiosyncrasies.

You could check to see if you have the most current driver. The one on the HP
web site has a March 2009 timestamp.

Yes this is a programming problem. In MS Publisher 2003 using the same document and the same card stock I had no problem printing.

With MS Publisher 2007 I can use the same document and the same card stock and I have had no problem printing.

But with MS Publisher 2010 it does not recognize the card stock I am printing too. Therefore since the same document in the previous two versions of MS Publisher had no problem reading the same document, printing on the same card stock using the same printer it is a programming error.
