bullet display in pull-down menu

I recently got a new Dell laptop computer for work with Windows XP
Professional with MS Office 2007 installed. In PowerPoint, when I go
to the pull-down menu to add bullets or numbers to the presentation,
the menu does not actually show any bullets, only the lines
representing text. The first box, "None", doesn't even display
properly - I can only see the very bottom of the word. When I select a
bullet option, it does not display in the presentation, either,
presumably because it is "superscripted" or something - displaying to
high. I have a screen shot of this if this is helpful for anyone. How
can I get the bullets and numbers to display properly?

The standard bullets are based on the fonts Symbol and Wingdings. Make sure
that they are both installed.
