First check that you have the latest printer driver, then delete and
reinstall the printer. Then check the user/temp file and make sure that when
all applications are closed it is completely empty. If it isn't delete
everything in it. You may need to do a fresh reboot to achieve this.

S

Sarah

deleted printer and redownloaded driver from hp's website. did not fix the
problem. deleted everything that I could from the user/temp files (stuff
that didn't delete is part of our scripting program which are active use
while being logged on). tried again to use the bullet feature and it did not
fix the problem.

I'm not see anymore application errors in the event viewer, but the new mail
message and word are still crashing. When I closed outlook, the outlook.exe
process is not closing which is obviously causing a problem reopening
outlook.

Any more suggestions? I'm really stuck at this point.

Well admenment to my last post. Word seems to be working fine now, but
outlook still crashing on me when trying to use the bullet feature.

Terry,

I also changed outlook from using HTML to rich text, the bullet feature
seemed to work there, but pulling a ? as a default bullet. I think this was
causing the problem. I reset the bullets back to default changed back to
HTML and everything seems to be working fine now with the exception that when
outlook is closed the outlook.exe process doesn't close with it.

Search for mail.dot and rename it as mail.bad. That will recreate the
default blank email template which should sort the problem.

I am having what seems to be a similar problem. Word 2003 hangs when I
paste in text from another application (e.g., Acrobat) into a table and then
format it as bullets. To start, where to I find the event log and user/temp?
I am using Windows 2000.

This worked for me. It was a Word issue, which Outlook will use for creating emails:

First check that you have the latest printer driver, then delete and
reinstall the printer. Then check the user/temp file and make sure that when
all applications are closed it is completely empty. If it isn't delete
everything in it. You may need to do a fresh reboot to achieve this.

deleted printer and redownloaded driver from hp's website.
deleted printer and redownloaded driver from hp's website. did not fix the
problem. deleted everything that I could from the user/temp files (stuff
that didn't delete is part of our scripting program which are active use
while being logged on). tried again to use the bullet feature and it did not
fix the problem.

:

Search for mail.dot and rename it as mail.bad.
Search for mail.dot and rename it as mail.bad. That will recreate the
default blank email template which should sort the problem.

I am having what seems to be a similar problem.
I am having what seems to be a similar problem. Word 2003 hangs when I
paste in text from another application (e.g., Acrobat) into a table and then
format it as bullets. To start, where to I find the event log and user/temp?
I am using Windows 2000.

Bullets Crash Word/Outlook
This worked for me. It was a Word issue, which Outlook will use for creating emails:

Deleting the List Gallery Presets key in the registry (with Word closed)
usually fixes issues with Bullets & Numbering in Word 2003.
