Bullets and Numbering won't indent

D

Danielle D'Silva

This has been a previous problem for someone, but I couldn't fix it by
setting left indent. (word>preferences>autocorrect>set left indent)
Problem: When I am using bullets and numbering pressing tab does
nothing to the bullet or number, rather it only indents the text. When
I start a new line, pressing return does not bring the bullet back to
the previous bullet or number as it did before, ie. if making list and
I have 1. then i return and tab it just does 2. it doesn't change to
a. If I highlight it all and press bullets and numbers sometimes it
reformats, but then if i press return twice it just keeps creating
lines of a, b, and c, rather than switching back to numbers.

Any suggestions?

Select Tool | Autocorrect Options from the menu and click the tab titled Autoformat as you type. Check the box called Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces and click OK.
