Bullets -- Frustrated about Indent

J

journey

I am frustrated about doing something that seems like it should be so
simple ...

In Office 97, the bullet itself wasn't indented. The left margin of
the bullet lined up with the text above it.

Liket this ....

"Now is the time
* For all good men
* (and women)
* To come to the aid of their country"

After Office 97 though it is like this ....

"Now is the time
* For all good men
* (and women)
* To come to the aid of their country"

Is there a way I can change the default bullet indent to be how it was
in Office 97?

Thanks for your help,

With text highlighted:
Format | Bullets and Numbering | "Bulleted" tab
Select your bullet, click the "Customize" button.
In the "Bullet position" section, alter "Indent at:" as you desire

Thanks -- I can't figure out how to do this in Office 2007.

Office 2007 seems very slow to me .....

In Office 07, right click your paragraph with your bullet in it, and select
Adjust List Indents.

Thanks. I should have specified that I want it to persist across
documents -- so that any new document doesn't indent bullets.

For that you will need to create a style and use the newly created style in
your other documents.

Thanks -- I will stick with Office 97, which has the bullets where I
want them.

A factor in that decision is that Office 2007 is horrendously slow. I
don't know how it could be released like that.

Bill Gates should use the software himself. If he did I bet he'd be
telling the development team to get their act together.
