Bullets, numbers, and tables

I am using outline numbering and want to insert a table without
numbering in it. However if I am at 4.1.1 and insert a table the cells
pick up the numbering with 4.1.2, 4.1.3, etc. How does one prevent
this?

Addendum:

Tried creating the table at the bottom of the page and then copying it
between 4.1.1 and 4.1.2. Even though there are several blank lines in
4.1.1 I could not place the table there, it gets placed before 4.1.1
when I paste.
