bullets print wrong

Using word 2003, when I use the standard filled in bullet, it looks OK on
print preview but prints as a strange character. Other bullets and numbering
print OK. If I open the same document on my old PC with office 97 the bullets
print correctly. I have re-installed the symbols font, created a new template
etc.
I have the latest patches installed.
I have tried other PCs with office 2003 and found the same problem. It's
looks a lot more common than just my PC!

Try asking this in the word.printingfonts newsgroup. Be sure to specify
- the type of printer
- the font the text is formatted with

You might also check whether your printer is set to download truetype fonts as
softfonts (or something like that, mine's an HP laserjet). If I don't do that, I
sometimes see odd things.

Thanks Cindy
Found the problem. I needed a new printer driver for my HP2100 after
installing Windows XP SP2. It was not too obvious because I had upgraded to
Office 2003, and on my old PC running Windows 98 and Office 97 everything
worked fine. A new driver from the HP web site fixed the problem. Thanks for
your reply.
Cheers
John
