How do I get each bulleted item in a list to appear one
at a time, each time being added to the screen by
a "click".

Barb,

You need to give your bullet text / placeholder a "custom animation" and set
them to appear "on mouse click"

Right click the text box and choose "custom animation"...then choose
something simple like "wipe right". For the timing choose "on mouse click"

If you're using PPT 2002, there's a tutorial for this on the animation
