Business Fax

Is there anyway to prevent the (1) from being dialed at the beginning of a
contacts business fax? My fax machine system needs to begin with a 9 for
local and a 89 for long distance the (1) in front of it prevents the fax from
going through.

It would be helpful to know to which fax software you are referring.

That's a third party product. You'd need to contact them for assistance.
For Microsoft's fax products, the Fax service will not process dialing rules
unless the phone number to which you are sending the fax is in
"international format." Details on how to use international format to invoke
dialing rules are available here:
