calculation speed

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

Mac Pro 2 x 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel

I have spreadsheet with 40,000 rows
recalculation with Excel 2004 took about 3 minutes
and I expected speed improvement with 2008
but with Excel 2008 it takes over 4 minutes

do I need to change some settings somewhere?

to close this loop and sorry I started

with advice from MVP on another thread, I changed the vlookup table from relative to absolute references and this fixed the speed problem
