Calendar Appointments Outlook 2003

Recently when users send a calendar appointment to other users the messages
are received garbled. Is there a recent Microsoft Windows critical patch
responsible for this or is there some other cause? Thanks for any replies.

State the Outlook versions involved (sender and recipient) and define "garbled."

Both senders and receivers use Outlook 2003 SP2 and the messages do not
have the Accept, Decline etc buttons. Instead the message has text similar to
this
"MIME-version: 1.0
X-MIMEOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.3138
X-Mailer: Microsoft Office Outlook 11
Content-type: text/calendar; charset=utf-8; method=REQUEST
Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT

Are the senders forcing Rich Text Format?

Have them try this and also mark their contacts to receive RTF formatted messages.
