calendar items are locked - no new appointments can be made

I have just imported a large calendar to my PC, but while all the items are
present, I cannot open any appointment nor can I create a new appointment or
print any item.

Three questions: 1) Exactly what happens when you try (full error messages,
please)? 2) What version of Outlook? 3) What data store (PST or Exchange
mailbox)?
