Calendar "New Appointment" button

My "New Appointment " button in Outlook Calendar has stopped working. I can't
add a new appointment on my calendar in any fashion. Is there a way to
reactivate it?

Version of outlook? does restarting outlook help? (verify it closed in task
manager before reopening)
