calendar shuts down

suddenly, all apps other than Calendar run fine (OL'07). However, no matter
how I try to get into Calendar (ctrl-2; nav pane select), OL freezes up. Any
way to remedy without the hassle of reinstall?

I'd start with office diagnostics. You can start it from word or excel if outlook won't run.
