I have always been able to add appointments but getting an actual reminder is
like a crap shoot! Now I can't even add an appointment to my calendar. I
can add to shared calendars, but not my own. Anyone?

Are you getting an error? If so, what is it? If not, what happens?

Could be a forms problem, try the following:

To clean up the forms cache.

To do so, follow these steps:
1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. Click the Other tab, and then click Advanced Options.
3. Click Custom Forms.
4. Click Manage Forms.
5. Click Clear Cache.
6. Close all open windows, and then restart Outlook.

If the above does not work, try the following.

Deleting the Forms Cache File:
The Frmcache.dat file is the primary file to delete. The Frmcache.dat
file serves as an index of the individual forms that have been cached
on the computer. Use the following steps to manually delete the
Frmcache.dat file. In addition, these steps delete all of the cached
forms on your computer, which are stored in subfolders of the
Forms folder.

1.. Quit Outlook.
2.. Search the Hard drive (<F3>) to locate the Frmcache.dat file.
(Be sure to check in HIDDEN files on W2K or WXP.)
3.. Delete all that are found from the FIND window.
4.. Open Outlook.

When you restart Outlook, and use a form, the forms cache
is re-created.

I tried your suggestion...

1. the only error when trying to make new reminder, "cannot save item".
when the computer is restarted, everything works for the first 20 minutes, if
I'm lucky. After that, nothing.

2. there was nothing to clear in your first suggestion.

3. computer did not locate the Frmcache.dat file. So I couldn't delete that
either.

3. computer did not locate the Frmcache.dat file. So I couldn't delete that
either.

That file is in the hidden folder
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Forms for Windows XP
or
%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Forms for Windows Vista
You must enable viewing hidden files and folders in order for Seach to find
it.

Thanks Brian,

I found the file.

Unfortunately that did not work either. I am not sure how to proceed. This
computer is on a network and is the only computer with this problem. It is
so strange. I know that in the past the reminders have worked fine and it
has only begun recently to not allow any additions to be made to the calendar.

I checked it out and it did not help. I have read a lot of other posts with
this problem and most of them say to delete recurring appointments. I cannot
even view my appointments. I double click and nothing. Try to make new
appointment and nothing. I am so lost!

Are you using the All appointments or by Category view? Either one should
allow you to delete appointments. The Day/Week/Month view should be the only
one that’s 'buggy'.

I've tried them both to no avail...

Could somone please give me the steps to run "scanpst.exe"? When i enter it
in the run box it gives the error..."cannot find it", blah blah blah.

Also I am not seeing the pst file that needs scanned. I right clicked the
mailbox folder and clicked the advanced box and there were no pst files to be
found. Just my name and our server name.

You shoud be able to run it by clicking Start>All Prograsm>Microsoft Office
Tools>Inbox Repair Tool or Start>All Programs>Microsoft Office>Microsoft
Office Tools>Inbox Repair Tool or by running the SCANPST.EXE image directly.
The image can be found in
%CommonProgramFiles%\system\MSMAPI\1033 for English versions of Outlook 2003
or earlier or in
%ProgramFiles%Microsoft Office\Office12 for Outlook 2007.

To All:

I ended up running the "Detect & Repair" under "Help" and everything seems
to be working fine. I never noticed that before and I am glad I stumbled
across it. Thank you all for your help!
