Calendars within Master Project

I am experiencing a problem with calendars. I have ms project file
that are solely "individual schedule files" (just tasks and summar
tasks). I also have master project schedules which consist o
"individual schedule files". I am using a resource pool which sometime
gets opened when opening a schedule. The calendar in the resource poo
is sometimes updated for holidays, which means it changes. Later, whe
the "individual schedule files" are opened along with the resource pool
the updated calendar from the resource pool updates the loca
"individual schedule file" calendar. This means that later, after
close all the schedules down, I can re-open just the "individua
schedule file" and the revised calendar dates will show up as intended.
However, when the same proceedure is performed with a "master schedule"
the calendar does not show the revised calendar dates. Anyone have an
ideas what I could do to work like it is supposed to?

I am using Microsoft Project 2003 standard

I understand your "master schedule" is linked to the "individual
schedules", and the "individual schedules" are using a resource pool
(which is another .mpp file).

I too tried the scenario you were talking about. I found after opening
the master schedule, and when the summary task (that represents the
individual schedule) is expanded, Project displays "Open Resource Pool
Information" dialog box to indicate the tasks in this schedule is
linked to Resource Pool, and if it needs to be opened.

I suggest you select the "Open resource pool to see assignments across
all sharer files", so that the resource pool is also opened and the
resource calendar information in the master schedule gets updated with
the resource pool.

I don't suggest you see the Organizer option (Tools | Organizer), as
it can be used only to base calendar and resource calendar.

Thanks for you response.

I agree if Project supports adding a group of resources to task, but
this is still possible by creating one resource called "Electrical"
and having the max units to 500% (indicating 5 resources) with the
catch that all these resources should have the same working time.

If you think my response was useful, consider rating it.

Oops, a typo again.

I meant "Don't use the Organizer option (Tools | Organizer), as it can
be used only for base calendar and NOT for resource calendar".
