My default calendar reminder option is set for 2 days, but everytime I make a
new appointment or event it shows 18 hours instead. Can anyone help me with
this?

Thank you.

That is the default for all day events and can't be changed - appointments
should use the 2 day default you set.

How are you opening the new appointment items?

Thank for your help. I open a new appointment by double clicking on the day
in my calender. I recently figured out that if I go to the day on my calendar
and then use Ctrl n, it works and shows the 2 days. I appreciate your help.

Yes, opening a new appointment from the monthly grid creates an all day
appointment... Ctrl+N should work from the monthly calendar and create an
appointment (not an All Day Event) - or you can use the New button.
