Calender - set appointments does not work-- why?

Calender stopped allowing me to set appointments. When I click new
appointment nothing happens. If I try to type directly in the calender the
response is "can't save item".

Do you know the fix for this?

I'd first try SCANPST if you're not using an Exchange account and after
that, Detect and Repair or Office Diagnostics, depending on your version of
Office.
