Calling SP freezes computer

I use VB code to call a SP using: con.execute "exec procname"
The SQL server is on anotehr machine.

Nevertheless, it seems to freeze my machine while it is running.
There is no CPU usage so something real weird is happening.

Anyone got an idea what it could be?
