Can a hyphen be used to indicate a range of notes.

In Word, is it possible to use the note function (i.e., to have the footnotes
or endnotes linked to the note reference marks) but also use a hyphen or 1/n
dash to indicate a range in the references marks? In a range of superscrip
note reference marks (e.g., 5,6,7,8,9,10) it is typical in publishing to use
a 1/n dash (5-10), but if you delete the middle numbers (6,7,8,9) to insert
the dash, the notes disappear. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Christian

Insert the en dash and then format the intervening reference marks as
Hidden. But note that current convention, instead of having several separate
notes, is to combine all the sources into a single note, separated by
semicolons.
