Can Access 2003 database files be opened using Access 2002?

As an instructor for an on-line Introduction to Microcomputers course I have
students this quarter who have Access 2003 software. Will I be able to open
and evaluate their files (small databases) using my Access 2002 software?

I don't have Access 2003, but as far as I know, it doesn't have a new
file format of its own. It can save files in the "Access 2002/2003
format" or the "Access 2000" format. So you'll be able to open your
students' databases with Access 2002. However, if they use any new
features that were introduced with Access 2003, you can't expect those
to work.

Yes.

By default, both Access 2002 and Access 2003 use the Access 2000 format.

And I believe that the Access 2002 file format is actually the same as the
Access 2002-2003 format to which Access 2003 can convert.

Thanks....I had real problems with my advanced Access class (which is not on
line) between the 2000 edition & 2002 edition....so its good to hear the
basics will work!
