Can anyone suggest a good scheduling template for weekly shifts?

R

Ronbo

Am looking for help in scheduling two teams of five (5) persons....7am to
3pm, and 3pm to 11pm...Mon-Sat. (Sundays off). Furthermore...of the teams of
five, the team covering 3pm to 11pm would give up one to cover 11pm to 3am...

Major holidays off. (covered by On Call assignments) and minor holidays
short staffing.

Any suggestions? Am tired of doing it the "way we've always done it!"

Thanks

I have a week scheduling calendar form/report that could be adapted to do
this. Send me an email.

How much are you charging? These newsgroups are for free support, not

Ronbo, sorry about the inappropriate solicitation post you
received in this thread. the purpose of these unmonitored newsgroups is to
offer free assistance, advice, and suggestions from fellow Access
developers, to answer your question(s) and help you build a better database.
if you don't receive any advice or suggestions from fellow developers in
this thread within a day or two, you may want to try posting again in the
tablesdbdesign NG, asking for suggestions on what tables/relationships you
need, and/or perhaps links to existing templates or "demo" databases to get
you started. if you prefer to hire a developer to build your database, there
are websites where you can look for contractors. you can find those by
googling.

I think you will have to 'roll your own' to get something this specific. As
a start lay out in a paragraph all the 'entites'.
Here is a start

I have a number of teams (currently 2)
Each team is made up of a number of people (currently 5)
There are a number of shifts to be covered. Each shift consists of a day,
start time, end time, and required number of staff
Some days are holidays and they are off but are covered by 'On Call
Assignments
All Sundays are holidays
Some days are minor holidays and they have 'short staffing'
----not sure what the meaning of 'the team covering 3pm to 11pm will give up
one to cover 11pm to 3am-- but this is yet another business rule.

Ok look for the nouns
teams
people
shifts
days
workdays
holidays
minor holidays
sundays
saturdays ?? (might be just another work day)
----you may have more

Now we look for relationships

each person is assigned to one and only one team
each team consists of many people (currently 5)
each shift is assigned to one and only one team
each team is assigned many shifts
each day consists of many shifts

---- you may have more.

After you get all the: (one can roughly consider all of these the same but
in places the language varies) Enties (entity-relation model); Classes
(Object Oriented model); Tables (relational physical database design) and
their characteristics (field types) and their relationships to other things
in the model, you are almost ready to start building your database.

After you get the data structure right, you will need to build in the
business logic, I think this will take some coding in Visual Basic.
The same team cannot have more than one shift in a day, etc.

Then you can build your user interface.

Lots of luck.

Now let Tina answer.

IMO it is better not to argue about this with you.
You just don't *want* to know this.

Why does quoted text not appear as such in your postings? Is this another
form of plagiarism?

How's this --- "You're a dimwit!"

So you keep saying but I don't see you providing any evidence in support of
your claim. Don't you ever tire of being wrong?

It strikes me as being a little scary that someone who claims to be such an
all knowing and indispensable "resource" can't even operate a news reader
program, and the name-calling speaks for itself.

Doug,

You may think you are big stuff writing for Pinnacle or whoever you write
for but you have lowered yourself into the gutter supporting and promoting
Arno R, John Marshall and Keith Wilby. Just take a look at the worthless
garbage they are polluting the newsgroups with and count the number of
responses of help made by that trio of dimwits. Also keep in mind that the
rules went out the window when Arno R started sending emails to my office.

As for highly respected contributors to the newsgroups, here is a list of
just a few:
Allen Browne
Ken Snell
Jim Fortune
Salad
Tom van Stiphout
MG Foster
FredG
John Nurick
These guys are class acts!!!! You aren't even in their league.

Tina,

Your failure to answer is an affirmative confirmation that you can not
support the statement you made. In the future do not make statements that
you can not support. This is not the way to achieve MVP status.

That's a novel way of describing your solicitations. Stop soliciting, we'll
stop complaining.

So what about the long list of questions you have never answered?
In the future do not make statements that you can not support.

So what about the statements that you refuse to support?
This is not the way to achieve MVP status.

From what I have seen of Tina's posts, she has a far better chance of being
awarded than you.

You were not following the rules in the first place and have you not been
asking users to contact you directly?
These guys are class acts!!!! You aren't even in their league.

Since Nov 1st, Doug has made 386 posts to the Access newsgroups. You on the
other hand have only posted 85, which was mainly a combination of slander,
plagarism or incorrect information.

You are definitely in a league of your own.

PS: where is your legions of supporters?
