With a message open, click the down-arrow in the Options section of the
Message ribbon.

ahh.. I always read and reply with the preview fully open on the right side and I now
realize that I've never "opened" a message/

It's not necessary to open the message - you can access the dialog where the
header is found by right clicking on the message in the message list.
