Can "Hyphenate words in CAPS" be saved to RTFs?

R

Robert

Greetings--
Word 2000 and Word 2003. When I save RTF documents with "Hyphenate
words in CAPS" ON, they always re-open with "Hyphenate words in CAPS"
OFF.
Is this a known bug or is there a workaround?
Thank you very much for any help.

Hi Robert,
Word 2000 and Word 2003. When I save RTF documents with "Hyphenate
words in CAPS" ON, they always re-open with "Hyphenate words in CAPS"
OFF.

I can reproduce this.

Is this a known bug

It doesn't seem to be documented in the Knowledge Base, but that doesn't
mean anything.

or is there a workaround?

You can open the RTF file as a text file and insert "\hyphcaps1" before or
after the \hyphhotzXXX entry. But the next time Word opens the file, it'll
get clobbered again.

\hyphhotz1 (hyphenate words in CAPS) should be the default, so Word doesn't
write it when saving the file (or removes it if it was in the original
file). But the RTF import filter is obviously buggy, and sets "Hyphenate
words in CAPS" to OFF when it imports an RTF file without the setting.
Thank you very much for any help.

Sorry, but I can't think of any *real* help for the problem... except MS
fixing that bug (very unlikely).

Regards,
Klaus
