Can I add a text stop to a cell?

P

Is there anyway to place a text stop in a cell, so that text will no
continue past the end of the cell? Text wrap isn't really what I'
looking for, as I would like the cell to maintain its size. Also, a
this cell is used for text, variations in the size of characters make
limiting the number of characters in the cell not really work either.
Any suggestions

PD,

Try putting an almost hidden column (very narrow) to the immediate right of
the column. Put something in the cells, like a single space character.

Nice idea Earl.

To expand on it a little, enter the space, then set the column width to zero
(0), making it completely invisible.

RagDyer,

I'd tried that, but with the column completely hidden, the text spilled past
it, in the usual way. I tried setting it to 0 width manually too, No joy.

The space character seems to block the extra column border, so it looks
pretty normal.

RagDyer,

Ya know, I struggled for "column border" in my reply and knew it wasn't the
correct term. Then later, while out in the sun delirious, I realized it's
grid line. Grid line, for crying out loud, Earl.

You know, I tried it twice this morning, and I'll swear it worked, but now
....???? You're absolutely right!

Well, next best thing, set width to 0.1 - makes it just about invisible.
