Can I add an internal site search to my website? If so, how?

Mike Hartley

I would like to add an internal site search to my website but I'm not sure if this is possible or how to set one up

The idea is to have a text area where visitors type in the keyword(s) they are looking for and somehow they are directed to the right spot in the website

Thank for your help

With your web open:
Insert > Web Component > Web Search >
Current Web.
You might want to set it up on an empty page
first, to get an idea of what it will look like in
a regular page.

1. Choose Web component from the Insert menu.
2. Select Web Search in the Component Type list at the
left.
3. Select Current Web from the Choose A Type Of Search
list at the right.
4. Click Next.
5. Review the properties in the Search Form dialog box.
5. Click OK, save, and test using an http:// URL.

What's happening when you test it and the search result comes back with "there is no catalog?"

yes the search component in FP is the internal search form.....(there are "Add
Components" which include a external search engine, but the standard search form
is for searching within the current site.
