Can I block display of a recepient's email address?

I got an email and the sender sent a CC to John Doe. Normally, I am used to
clicking on the name of any email recepient and seeing his/her actual email
address "properties." However, in this case, clicking on John Doe does not
show me his email address.

Is there an email function that allows you to block the display of an
individual's email address, while still allowing his name ("display as") to
show? This would seem to be a useful feature in situations where you want to
send a copy of an email to someone, while preventing everyone else who
receives the email from knowing that person's email address.

I will appreciate information.

Have you examined the internet headers (if any)? Open the message and click
View>Options. The Cc field should be listed there.

Brian:
I'm not sure if you understand my question. I can see the CC field, with
the name "John Doe" in it. It is just that when I click on "John Doe," his
email address does not become available, as it normally would. As for
internet headers, they are not available, which may be because of the
program, which is Outlook Web Access. Please advise further if you can.

I thought I did, but you neglected to mention up-front that you're using
OWA. OWA is not Outlook, but is a part of Exchange. Since you posted in an
Outlook newsgroup, I assumed you were posting an Outlook question.

yes, I understood the question, but placed it in the context of Outlook, not
OWA.

OWA isn't a program per-se, it's a set of HTML and scripts that provide a
web interface to an Exchange server.

Asking in an Exchange newsgroup may get you a more appealing (and correct)
answer.

Brian:
Sorry for the miscommunication. If this issue only pertains to OWA, I won't
pursue it. However, let me ask the question again but in the context of
Outlook 2003. Is there a way to send an email in Oulook so that the
recepients can see the names of the people receiving the email, but not be
able to determine the email addresses of the receptients?

I don't know of a way.

I'm trying to do the same thing as Robert. I recently upgrated from Outlook
2000 to Outlook 2003. It seems that sometime during the installation it
asked me how I wanted names to display in e-mails. Unfortunately, I chose
the option to display both the name and e-mail address and now want to change
it to display only the name.

Did I "dream" that Outlook asked me. And is there no way to get it to ask
me again? I did install the Business Contact Manager, maybe it was there. I
have since uninstalled the Business Contact Manager.

Thanks.

Ann
