Alex,
You should be able to do what you want. As long as you have network links that allow it and adequate bandwidth over that link. This is easiest in Windows XP Pro because it has a utility in the Control Panel>User Accounts that lets you manage network resource credentials.
Prior to Windows XP Pro if you tried to use windows authentication it would just take the credentials you used to login to the workstation and try to pass those to the server. Now they can actually be different (i.e. you don't need to do a domain login from your workstation) and you can still connect to project pro.
