Can I create html training using Powerpoint ?

R

Richard@xeno

I am looking at buying a package to create a stand alone training program for
users to learn how to use equipment using powerpoint style function/mpeg etc.
I would ideally like to have the package interactive like a website (html)
and/or have 'flash' images etc. Will powerpoint provide a framework for me to
develop such a training package that will autorun.

Many thanks

Well, you could use PPT, but it's most definitely not the best tool for CBT.
Video is too touchy, and depending on what kind of interactivity you're
looking for, you may not be able to distribute it with the PPT Viewer which
means the recipients have to have PPT itself installed.

I'd probably opt for Flash or Director. Or create it in HTML directly.

There are some good PPT-to-Flash converters. Some do a better job than
others, and none of them is inexpensive. You can check my list at
http://www.echosvoice.com/autoruncdlinks.htm It's out of date, but it should
get you started if you're interested in those. I recommend Articulate.

Oh, you said autorun. That means you will need to use the PPT Viewer. So
beware of any solutions that require you to use VBA, because VBA won't work
in the PPT Viewer.

If you have more questions on this subject, you should post to the PPT
newsgroup. This is a bit involved for this group.
