As you ask JoAnn, it's because I sell a 70 page guide which I produce
on computer. This shows various walks in a particular area. I
therefore wish to use small sections of area maps onto which I wish
to add the walk routes. In the UK, our Ordnance Survey charge huge
amounts to use their maps (copyright) whereas in the US, I hear this
is free!

You may want to buy Microsoft AutoRoute or Microsoft MapPoint Europe - this
gives you access to a complete map of the UK (and many other European
countries, too) which you can use in your guide.

Where are these walks, by the way? I might be interested in coming and
walking them sometime if they're close enough :)

Cool - it's a bit of a trek up across the mountains of Mid Wales, but if I'm
ever up in the area, I'll look you up (hopefully your guide book will be
ready by then!) - I'm in Swansea

I'm using Publisher 2002 to draw a few diagrams taken from a map. My problem
is that I cannot find a way to draw roads or rivers in DOUBLE lines. Yes I
know I could draw a sinle line and then copy it, but this means that on
curves, the width between the lines is not uniform.
Does anyone know if Publisher will do this?
Any advice appreciated.
Chrisssss.........

If you want to use a program that is designed for mapping, try OCAD
(www.ocad.com) The earlier versions are available for downloading for
free. You can save a copy of the map as a JPEG or GIF and paste it
into your Publisher document.

Normally, if one downloads and registers a free version, a couple of
weeks later the Lovely Natasha will send you an update offer for
$29.95. It is far better than the free version.

I have downloaded PagePlus SE and installed PhotoPlus 7, and registered
both, and have had no emails from the Lovely Natasha :-(

I know I'm insane.

I'm talking about Xara X1 though....much faster/easier to work with than Illustrator.

I had the Lovely Stephanie and she sold me PhotoPlus 9 and DrawPlus 7
for 45 of your US dollars... (that's for the pair, not each).

I'm starting to feel left out! :-(

Jeff,

Many many thanks!

At last someone who appreciated what I was seeking.

The OCAD prog you suggested is BRILLIANT. It's easy, simple, a tiny file AND
free!

I can now draw roads and rivers in seconds without having the enormous
hassle of learning a huge complicated program.

I just knew that there had to be something out there to do the job.

Very much appreciated. I owe you a pint at least!

Mike,
Do you use PagePlus as well?

I can't seem to find a color picker (you know the little eyedropper sample thing)? How the heck can you match a color from a photo or any object without one?
Where did they hide it?

Driving me nutso.

| Try DrawPlus from Serif: http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/ Easy to

Rob,

I use PP10 and it's under attributes/color (colour). I can't remember if
it was in PP9 or 8, though. :-(

I have a couple of third party color pickers.
I guess the Free Serif Page Plus doesn't have one built in.
