Can I get original pictures back from saving the crop?

[HELP!]

I wanted to know if there was any way to get your original copy of your
picture back after saving the crop of it? I think it is really stupid how
when you crop a picture it doesn't save your original and the cropped
version. It really should. This was my all time picture ever and I needed to
crop it for one of my projects and now the picture is ruined.

Sure just get it out of your camera again.

You did this to your original file? No, couldn't be possible - people always
make backups and never work on originals.

Well it may be possible IF you have not been using your computer much
and IF you are lucky and IF you find a local tech who knows how to recover
files well.

In the future, it would be wise to always start an editing session with
a SAVE AS and save the original file under a new name like ORIGINAL2.

Some programs can be configured to do much the same thing automatically.
Some can't. Since you did not mention what program you were using to do the
editing I could not know if it was an option (or even a default action) for
your program.

BTW is there any chance you still have the original in the camera's
memory? You may be able to download it to the computer again. BTW I have
done the same thing from time to time.
