It is very frustrating that the custom views I create for my email messages
views work in contradictory ways. Some are very useful, others are totally
useless.
For instance. I created a view where I group by CONVERSATION and sort by
RECEIVED. This is great, my threads are together and the most recently
received messages (and their approiate groups) are at the top of the list.
However, if I group by FROM and sort by RECEIVED the groups are listed in
order of the FROM field regardless of when the email is received. This is
useless and has caused me to miss emails because it did not behave as the
view described above worked.
I'd like to know why these two similar views behave in totally different
ways but more importantly, I'd like to know if there is a way to group by
FROM and have my most recent emails (and their appropriate group) at the top
of the list?
If I change CONVERSATION to SUBJECT it also totally changes the behavior.
This is infuriating. Just try to find anything in the Outlook 2003 help
about the difference between CONVERSATION and SUBJECT. You'll end up here
because the help is also useless. If you're not online, you get no help at
all. This is next to worthless.
