Can I install Office 97 using Windows XP?

I just bought a new Dell with Windows XP and don't want to have to buy a new
office program. I have Office 97 and would like to install it but have been
told you can't, is this true or is there a way?

If you don't have Service Pack 2 for Windows XP, then Office 97 should
install just fine. If you do have WinXP SP2, you should plan on doing a
custom installation of Office 97 in which you set the Web Authoring Tools to
"not available" in the setup options.

Or remove SP2 if possible, install Office97 with any options you want
and then be SURE to upgrade Office97 with all available service packs.
Then you can re-install SP2.
