Can I just start all over?

I work in a small office with 7 people. We use Groove only to view a communal
calendar using one workspace which we call Secretary. Two people have had
constant problems with Groove. How can we simply remove accounts and start
over (no need to import any data). Would it be easier just to uninstall the
program and then do a clean install? One person's continually prompts for a
password that never existed (none of us have passwords) the other cannot
accept an invitation. I'd appreciate a step by step on how these two can
remove their accounts and create a new one - that doesn't involve going to a
second computer, importing and exporting and all that type of stuff, since we
don't have data to save, lose or import.

To completely remove Groove, including all account and workspace data, follow
these steps:

1. Shut down Groove.

2. Use "grooveclean -all" to remove all data, using the instructions given
for your Groove version in "How to use GrooveClean.exe to delete Groove data"
at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;907854.

3. Uninstall Groove from Control Panel. This is under "Add or Remove
Programs on Windows XP", and under "Programs and Features" for Windows Vista.
(If you have Office Groove 2007 as part of a larger Microsoft Office package,
use the "Change" function to remove Groove as a package feature.)

4. Restart Windows.

At this point, you can do a fresh installation of Groove.

Frances,

Okay, I did the Groove Clean. When I went into my control panel, all I saw
was Groove Trial version which I deleted. We get the full Office Suite
through our University Web page and download it that way. I do not see any
of the regular programs on my Install/Remove options under software from the
Control Panel. From the Start Menu, to programs, When I open Microsoft
Office, I see the whole suite, minus Groove. However, if I go to C:
Programfiles/ office/office 12 etc.... I see all the various Groove icons,
..exe etc. If I click on the exe file to open Groove it flashes up but never
starts or engages. There is still registry information in here obviously. It
does not look like I have uninstalled the program nor can I get it to work.

To uninstall Groove when it is installed as part of an Office suite, do this:

1. In Control Panel Programs and Features, select the Office 2007 suite, and
then click the "Change" button.

2. Select "Add or Remove Features", and click "Continue".

3. On the Installation Options screen, click the icon next to "Microsoft
Office Groove" and then select "Not Available" from the drop-down menu. A red
X will appear over the icon.

4. Click "Continue" and precede through the uninstall.

If this doesn't work, you should open a support case with your helpdesk, or
with Microsoft support at
http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?gprid=11630.

Frances,

I am currently at the computer that is prompting for the password. This
computer is using XP Professional. When I went into the CP, I did not get the
specific categories you mentioned but I did go into where I could change or
remove programs. This computer had MSoffice2003 listed. Under that it
Microsoft Enterprise 2003 and then Microsoft Safe as PDF or XPS Add in for
2007 Microsoft Office Programs. This person is using Microsoft Office 2007.
In the start menu, the icon for MS Groove 2007 is shown. When I click
properties, it confirms Groove 2007. Security tabs all show "allow". But I
don't see where I can delete this on the Install and Remove Programs Feature.
I called MS Support and they want $259. I have a call into our main campus
to see if we have IT contract. Meanwhile I don't see a way in to changing
this program or deleting it.

Making Progress

I have one person up and running. The second one, we uninstalled and
reinstalled Groove. Now, I just sent her an invitation. Her email comes up
twice, in red. I verified the address.

My taskbar says that invitation is 100% sent. Waiting for delivery...

The person never gets the invitation.

If you do not see Microsoft Office 2007 or Groove 2007 in the programs list,
I cannot help you here. If you try the link I gave you for opening a support
incident, you will see that email support is only $99. This should be just as
fast as a phone callback, and is likely to cover this issue.

The red color means that you have a name conflict -- two identical names
associated with different accounts. (It sounds like you are actually sending
to a Groove account, not an email.) Have her change her new identity name so
that you can distinguish it from the one associated with the account you
deleted. To do this, under the Options menu, click Preferences, and then on
the Identities tab, click Edit. In the Full name field, add something (for
example "(new)", and then click OK.

not have access to workspaces or messages in Groove" at
