Can I load Office 97 on Windows XP?

Linda

I recently purchased a new Dell system and would like to
load one program from office 97 on to this system. I ran
it on my old system that had windows 98 with no problems
and it is registered to me. When I purchased this system
I included the newest office products, however, I
neglected to also get powerpoint. I would like to load
powerpoint 97 onto my new system, leaving the other
programs in my new office products alone. I just don't
know if this is possible on Windows XP. I would not even
mind purchasing the upgrade to powerpoint for XP, but
don't feel it should be necessary to buy the full version
since I already own it in Office 97. My question is, can
I load the 97 version of powerpoint without causing any
problems?

Thanks

Hi, Linda,

Though Microsoft doesn't recommend it, you can run multiple versions of the
applicatiosn on your system. Just install it to a separate directory from
your later versions. Be aware that PowerPoint won't be integrated with the
rest of the applications in the suite (as it would if it were the same
version), but if that's not a problem for you, then it should be fine.
