Can I make information "pop up" with a rollover?

I have created buttons on my master slide that hyperlink to each slide in my
presentation so you can navigate back and forth to any slide you want to.
The buttons appear as plain grey boxes on the left side of the screen. I
don't want to have to put numbers in each of these boxes to identify what
slide they go to. Is there a way I can make the slide number appear when I
roll over the button without creating yet another slide in my presentation?
