Can I notify others of meetings w/out sending a meeting request?

Technology challenged

When I send meeting requests, resource people are listed in the calendar.
This takes up space and is unnecessary. But, it is important that they be
notified of the meeting. How do I accomplish this? I am running Outlook 2000.
