Repeating animations using the option on the timing tab repeats each
animation. While this can give some very interesting effects, it really
doesn't allow you to repeat the animations on multiple objects.
What I do is one of two things (depending on how many times I need things to
repeat):
If I know that I want a sequence to repeat a certain number of times, I use
Shyam's Animation Carbon to add the animations, then re-order them so that
the sequence appears to repeat, but is really just in the list a number of
times.
If I don't know how many times I want them to repeat, I put the animation on
a separate slide. I set the start of the slide to look like the end of the
previous slide. Next I duplicate the slide so that there are two copies of
it (WHY? Tell you in a second..) I then add the objects and one set of
animation to the second copy (referred to as the animated slide). After the
animation sequence, I add an appear for a 98% box that covers the whole
slide and set it to hyperlink on mouse over to the first slide that was
added (the non-animated one). Finally, I set the transition for the
non-animated slide to automatically after 0 seconds.
This second process creates an infinite loop of the animation. To end the
loop and move on, click on the animated slide when the animations are
running. I am guessing there is an easier way to do this, but I haven't
found it yet. Oh - and thanks to Glenna - she gave me the original idea in
an entirely different context.
