can I run Word 2000 and Word 2007 on the same computer? One microsoft tech
person told me I could not and hid word 2007 on my computer. Another
microsoft tech person told me I could have both installed and working. Which
is true? And how do I unhide Word 2007?
Thank you.

You should be able to run both on the same computer running Windows XP. I
had Word 2000 through Word 2007 on my previous computer... all installed in
the same Windows XP at the same time (i.e., not using virtual sessions or
different partitions). For my own purposes, I started Word 2000 through 2003
with the /a switch to avoid arguments over Normal.dot (among Word 2000 -
2003). For Word 2003 and 2007, there's a NoRereg registry setting you can
use to avoid the "will the real Word please stand up?" problem. I don't know
if Word 2000 knows about the NoRereg setting, but I rather doubt it
(described here:

I can run both Office 2000 and Office 2007 on my Windows XP machine, without
any problems. However, whenever I switch back to 2000, after using 2007, I
get a little notice that Office 2000 is "configuring itself". This lasts
about 5 seconds and then everything is fine. Now, I have copied the setup
files for 2000 to my hard drive, otherwise I might be asked to insert the
2000 disk at that point.
