Can I select a color from a bitmap within a powerpoint slide.

Is there a way for me to copy a color from a bitmap which I have placed on a
slide. I wish to cover part of the bitmap with a matching shape of the same
color and have some text or a shape appear from behind it.

There's a free little utility called Pixie which allows you to click anywhere on
your screen, e.g. on your bitmap, and it will display the RGB color values.
Once you've done that and jotted them down, create your rectangle and give it a
fill with the same RGB values. Pixie can be downloaded from
