The standard single user EULA for Office allows you to install on a desktop
AND laptop at the same time although both machines may not use Office at the
same time. The student/teacher EULA may be different and should be reviewed
to see if it has the same provision.
In any case, no matter whether that provision exists, if you remove Office
from the old machine then you can install it on any other computer you use.
As long as it is installed on only one machine at a time you're going to be
ok. It isn't enough that the old installation is on a machine that "isn't
used anymore." You must delete that onld installation in order for you to
be in compliance with the license.
You may have to re-activate the application with Microsoft but you shouldn;t
have any problem with that even if they make you call the activation
toll-free number. Just explain the situation and they will, most likely,
authorize the activation.
