Can I uninstall Office & install on a separate machine

I purchased a computer from Dell in late-2005, which had a copy of Microsoft
Office installed. I now want to move it (Microsoft Office) to another
computer. When I try to install Microsoft Office on the second computer, it
tells me that Office is already installed on the maximum number of computers.
My question is: if I uninstall Microsoft Office on the first computer can I
then install it on the second, if both computers are connected to the
internet?

The copy of Office that was pre-installed on the first computer cannot be
transferred to another system. That's why you paid less for that edition
than if you purchased it separately.

If it is Office Basic, it is licensed to the PC it came on. It may not
be moved. Reading the EULA will tell you what is permitted, or providing
the folks here with the exact version would allow someone to interpret
for you.

Maybe you are asking the wrong question.

You probably should be asking if you combine both PCs into a network can you
have access to the Office software from the other PC?

I think the answer is yes, but you will need to check either on the internet
or ask for free advice from a computer repair person at either a shop or
store.

The answer is no - Office cannot be run from a Network unless the Network is
using Terminal Services.

The reason the OP cannot install Office on a new computer is that is it OEM
and is forever tied to the machine on which it came.
