The file formats are the same, but PowerPoint 2000 does not understand
things that were new after it.
If you open a presentation created in XP with 2000, it will be able to read
all the presentation, but will not understand the 'new fangled' stuff. It
will be able to show a slide, but not understand the new complicated
animations. It will be able to transition, but not with the newer options.
Like that.
If you just need to view the XP version, then download the 2003 viewer. But
you can not edit from the viewer.
If you want PowerPoint 2002 (XP) or 2003 to emulate 2000, you can turn off
the advanced features in the options section.
Which direction would you like help in going?
